Chapter 7 time. This is one is called "Home Again". I think this chapter is pretty funny. I hope you enjoy it.

Home Again[]

I returned home with my new beast pet, and put her in a cage in my basement, which I had decorated with a few blankets for her to sleep on. I fed her some meat that I had lying around, and crouched down outside of the cage while she ate it.

“Why were you hiding in that coffin?” I asked, even though I knew she wouldn’t be able to speak to me. “You were hiding from that creature, weren’t you?”

I then went upstairs, took my torn up, hole covered coat out of my satchel, and threw it on the ground while I muttered “that was my favorite jacket”. I went into my closet, and got one of my other trench coats, which was similar to my now-ruined one, but with a bigger collar, and it had a gray chest, resembling a vest. After putting that on, I took out my reward money, and dumped it onto my table. I pulled aside 1,000 coins, and put them into a tiny bag that I was going to give to the mortician.

I left my hideout, and headed to town. I went to the funeral home, and found the mortician there. I took out the money, and gave it to him.

“Here’s what I owe you”, I said. “1,000. It’s all there.”

“Thank you, Nathan”, he said. “It might’ve taken you ten months, but you kept your word. I can appreciate that.”

“I always keep my promises”, I responded. “Tell your daughter I said hello.”

“I will”, he responded. “Farewell, Sakharine.”

I left there, and headed to Jason’s house, which I had never actually been inside of. I knocked on the door, and Cynthia opened it.

“Hello, Nathan”, she said. “Are you here to ruin my brother’s life?”

“Possibly”, I answered. “Can I come in?”

“Of course”, she responded.

I went to Jason’s room, and he was fast asleep. I picked up one of the three buckets of corn that I had brought with me, and poured it on him, which woke him up instantly. He screamed, then looked at me.

“Nathan, what the hell?!” he yelled.

“Morning, Jason”, I said before pouring another corn bucket on him.

“Stop doing that!” he screamed.

“What’s my favorite color?” I asked him.

“Black, I guess, because it’s the only color I’ve ever seen you wear”, he answered.

“You’re correct”, I said, before throwing another corn bucket on him.

“Why’d you throw another one on me?!” he yelled.

“Well, I had brought three of them”, I said.

“Where did you get all of this corn?” he asked.

“I grew it”, I answered. “My mother taught me how to farm before she died.”

“What time is it?” he asked as he stood up.

“8 A.M.”, I said.

“So let me get this straight”, he said in an annoyed tone. “You come to my house early in the goddamn morning and throw corn at me? What the hell?”

“Consider this breakfast in bed, bud”, I said.

“Consider this a dick move, asshole”, he said while punching me lightly on the left shoulder. “How did you find out where I lived? I’ve never told you.”

“I’m pretty good at tailing people”, I said.

“Do you want something?” he asked.

“Nah”, I answered. “I just thought I’d stop by, and bring you some food.”

“I don’t like corn”, he said. “Cynthia does, though.”

“I visited the mortician today”, I said. “I’m no longer in debt.”

“That’s good”, Jason said. “Hey, Djura told me that he might have more work for us in the future, since he was impressed by the job we did.”

“Sounds good to me, man”, I responded. “You know, I feel like I lost at least 10 pounds from all that running and walking that I did on that trip.”

“I can see it”, he said. “Do you know how much you weigh?”

“About 230 pounds”, I answered.

“You’re not even that fat”, he said. “You’re 6’3”, which means that your weight isn’t even that far from what it should be.”

“True, shorty”, I said jokingly.

“Not everyone has the pleasure of being taller than six feet”.

“That is also true”, I said. “You’re just an inch off. I’m gonna head home now.”

“Alright, man”, he responded.

“Have fun picking up all this corn”, I said, before bursting out laughing.

“You son of a bitch!”
