This is the penultimate chapter of The Betrayal: Act II. This chapter is called "Here Comes Revenge". Enjoy.
Here Comes Revenge[]
I made it to Alfred’s house at 3:00 A.M. It was a fairly nice two story house. It wasn’t anything really special, but I’d definitely seen worse before.
I slowly walked towards the front door. I felt like someone was watching me, but when I looked around, there was no one in the area.
As I knocked on the door with my left hand, I drew my dagger with my right hand, and held it behind my back. A butler answered the door, and was lucky to not have gotten stabbed in the face.
“Can I help you, sir?” he asked.
“I’m here to see Alfred”, I responded.
“I’ll have to go ask him if I can let you in”, he said before closing the door and walking away. I waited for about four minutes, and he returned and let me in. I put my knife away, and walked inside. “Alfred’s office is up the stairs”, the butler said. “It is the first door on the left.”
“Thank you”, I said. As I began walking up the stairs, the butler left the house. I knew that something wasn’t right. I made it to Alfred’s office, and entered it. He was sitting at his desk, waiting for me.
“Nathan”, he said. “Why am I not surprised to see you?”
“Jason saved me”, I said. “He’s going after two of your friends as we speak.”
“Well”, he said. “I can’t say I’m all that surprised.” He stood up. “You’re here to kill me, I presume?”
“You presume correctly”, I said.
“Well, let me feed my pet first”, he said before walking over to a cage housing a strange, slimy creature that looked very alien.
“What is that thing?” I asked.
“It is called a Celestial Child”, he answered. “I found it lost out in the wilderness a few months ago.”
“It looks like some kind of…. devil baby thingy”, I said. He suddenly gave me a weird look.
“Devil baby thingy?” he asked. “That’s quite the terminology.” He gave it a little treat, and picked up his sword, which was leaning against the wall, in his left hand, and turned toward me. I then drew my dagger, and put on my mask. “I sent my butler to get the guards. They’re probably already outside. Let’s get this over with, shall we?”
“Yes”, I said.
I charged Alfred with my dagger, and he dodged to the right and slashed both of my legs, which slowed me down. I slashed his left shoulder, but he just shrugged it off. I tried to slash his knees, but he jumped backwards, and almost slashed down at my head, but I blocked it with my dagger. I grabbed a book off of his desk, and threw it at his head, which appeared to stun him. I slashed his left wrist, which caused him to drop his sword, but the fight wasn’t over just yet. He tried to punch me, but I was able to stab him in the stomach, and kick him to the ground. I took my pistol out, which was loaded with my special bullet.
“It’s over”, I said while I was hyperventilating.
“Finish it”, he said in a surprisingly calm tone.
“Glady”, I said before shooting him in the head with my special bullet. I heard a commotion coming from outside. I put my dagger and pistol away, and went outside. The guards were waiting for me. One of them, who was the same guard that prevented me from entering Old Yharnam only hours earlier, walked forward.
“You there!” the guard said. “I am Captain Pietro of the Yharnam city guard. You are under arrest. I’m going to have to ask you to take that mask off.” I took my hood and my mask off, and Pietro seemed surprised. “I remember you. You’re the one who tried to enter Old Yharnam earlier.” He turned towards another guard. “Search him.”
“There’s no need for that”, I said as I took out both of my weapons, and threw them on the ground. “I submit. Take me away.”
“Very well”, Pietro said.
The guards then escorted me to the jail house. I was charged with assault, since the special bullet I shot Alfred with didn’t kill him. I had designed it to expand and deploy a gas that only knocked the unlucky son of a bitch on the receiving end unconscious. It took me years to perfect, and I had no intention of revealing the blueprints to anyone. I only maybe about 10 in total, and, to be honest, I had no idea if it would even work. But it did, so I guess I can now say that I did something productive with my life.
