Time for the 3rd to last chapter in this story. This one is called "Endgame". I hope you like it.

There's actually a cool little reference in this story.

Endgame[]

Jason and I made our way to Derrick’s farm, which I had learned the location of during my time in hiding. It was roughly halfway between the Fishing Hamlet and Yharnam. We had actually passed it on my first trip there. Since it was after midnight, we had hoped that he was going to be asleep, and that we’d be able to kill him without him putting up a fight.

We arrived at Derrick’s farm at around 1:30, and saw that he was out and about. One of the three mercenaries was with him. Jason and I quickly went prone so that they wouldn’t see us.

ā€œHow do you want to go about this?ā€ Jason asked quietly.

ā€œLet’s wait a bit, and see what they doā€, I said.

Jason and I waited for five minutes before Derrick and the mercenary separated, with the former going into a barn, and the latter going around the farm house.

ā€œI’ll take the mercenaryā€, Jason said. ā€œYou get Derrick. And take this.ā€ He handed me a fairly large dagger, since I didn’t have a weapon with me.

ā€œLet’s goā€, I said before we each moved in on our respective targets. I crept up to the barn entrance and peeked in. Derrick was using a piece of spikey farm equipment for something that I couldn’t make out. I started to sneak up behind him, but he suddenly stopped what he was doing, and turned towards me. He seemed scared to see me.

ā€œSakharine?ā€ he asked. ā€œYou’re alive?ā€

ā€œYesā€, I answered as I drew my dagger. ā€œAre you ready to join your brother?ā€

ā€œI never blamed you for Vince's deathā€, he said as he reached down and picked up a pitchfork. ā€œBesides, you’re the one who is going to die here. Not me.ā€

ā€œEn gardeā€, I said.

Derrick charged at me with the pitchfork, and shouted as he did. I quickly dodged to the left, and slashed his right shoulder. He turned around and tried to stab me, but I jumped backwards. I then grabbed a rake, and hit him in the head with it, which seemed to stun him. I stabbed him in the right hand, causing him to drop the pitchfork, and grab his hand in pain. I grabbed Derrick by the arms, and started dragging him towards the piece of farm equipment that he was working on. I then lifted him up, and threw him backwards, impaling him on the spikes, and killing him near instantaneously. I could barely breathe afterwards. The adrenaline was getting to me.

Not long after killing Derrick, I heard a gunshot coming from behind me. I rushed over, and saw Jason coming out from behind the house.

ā€œDid you get him?ā€ I asked.

ā€œI got himā€, he said. ā€œIt appears that you got Derrick too. Am I right?ā€ he asked.

ā€œYesā€, I said. ā€œLet's check inside the house. Maybe there’s a clue to where we can find the other three.ā€

ā€œLet’s do itā€, Jason said.

We went up to the house, and the door was unlocked, so we went inside. The first room was your typical living room, which had a fairly large couch with a table and a lamp beside it, two chairs with a table between them, and a pretty nice fireplace. Jason and I went into the kitchen, and saw an open letter. It contained the addresses of Alfred and the other two mercs. I found a quill, ink, and two pieces of paper in another room, and copied the addresses onto them. I gave one of them to Jason, and kept the other for myself.

ā€œI’ll go after the two mercsā€, Jason said. ā€œI saw them leaving your hideout. I know what they look like.ā€

ā€œSounds goodā€, I said. ā€œAlfred is mine.ā€

ā€œNathanā€, Jason said. ā€œWhen we do this, we’ll need to get out of Yharnam.ā€

ā€œI knowā€, I said. ā€œDo you know of any places?ā€

ā€œThere’s a town outside of Yharnam’s borders called Ancryaā€, Jason said. ā€œApparently, that’s where Harold Jenkins hid when he was banished from Yharnam a few months ago.ā€

ā€œI met him onceā€, I said. ā€œIt was when I still sold meat. He was nice.ā€

ā€œAnywayā€, he said. ā€œI read somewhere that the sentence of murder in Yharnam is ridicously short. Only two years.ā€

ā€œThat’s strangeā€, I said. ā€œIf I get caught, can you promise me something?ā€

ā€œWhat is it?ā€ he asked.

ā€œThat you’ll take care of my petā€, I said. ā€œShe needs feeding.ā€

ā€œYou have my wordā€, he promised.

ā€œThank you, Jasonā€, I said thankfully. ā€œLet’s go. I have a special bullet that I had made for a special occasion. I guess this will be as good a time as ever to use it.ā€

ā€œWhat makes it so special?ā€ he asked as we both started walking towards the door.

ā€œI don’t want to tell youā€, I said. ā€œJust know that it does something special.ā€

We walked outside, and hugged each other. We then went our separate ways. Jason got on his horse and rode off. For years, that was the last time Jason and I saw each other.

I ran all the way back to Yharnam. I made it there at around 2:30. I took my mask off, since it would definitely get me recognized, and made my way towards the Cathedral Ward, where Alfred lived. It was time to finish this.

End[]

Thank you for reading this chapter. I hope you liked it. Tell me what you think in the comments. There are going to be two more chapters and an epilogue after this one. Have a good day.

And, yes, this story is in the same universe as Harold Jenkins.
