As promised, this is the third chapter I published today. This one is called "Revival". I hope you like it.
Revival[]
I was very surprised when I woke up and saw Jason standing over me. I couldn’t tell where I was. How did I survive?
“Welcome back, Nathan”, Jason said.
I sat up, and realized that I was at the Fishing Hamlet. “Jason?” I asked. “How did I get here?”
“Your friend brought you here”, said a woman behind me. I turned around, and saw that it was Carmilla, the woman who Mark, Derrick, Jason, and I had helped before I had gone into hiding. “You were minutes away from dying. I healed you. You’re going to be okay."
“I guess I owe you my life”, I said.
“Consider this a reward”, she said. “I never gave you my thanks for helping this village.”
“That’s true”, I said. “What time is it?"
“It’s 1 A.M.”, she said. “Jason said that he put you on a horse, and rode as fast as he possibly could.”
I turned towards Jason. “I love you, man”, I said.
“You’re lucky that Jason got to you when he did, Nathan”, said Yurie, another person who went to the chalice dungeon with us, and never said a word during that entire journey. This was the first time I had ever heard her voice.
“Well”, I said. “I thought you were mute.”
“I don’t usually have much to say”, she said.
“Nathan”, Jason said. “Who did this to you?”
I took a deep breath. “It was Alfred”, I said.
“Alfred?” Jason asked. “He’s alive?”
“Yes”, I answered. “I was surprised too.” I shed a single tear from my good eye. “Jason. Your sister is dead because of me.”
“Nathan, don’t blame yourself”, Jason said. “What’s your plan?”
I stood up. “I’m going to kill all of them”, I said. “Will you help me, Jason?” I asked.
“Of course I will”, he said, before reaching into his pocket, and taking my mask out. “I think you’ll be needing this.” He handed me my mask, and I took my eye patch off, set it down on a nearby table, put my mask on, and pressed the button that opened the left eye, since I wanted the men who attacked me to look into my eyes as they died. I then proceeded to button up my jacket, which I had left hanging open before I was attacked.
“Let’s go”, I said. “I know where Derrick lives. We’ll start there.”
“Let’s do it”, Jason said.
“My sister Yurie and I wish you two good luck”, Carmilla said.
“Thank you for this, Carmilla”, I said. “How are your daughters?” I asked.
“They’re good”, she said. “They’re asleep right now, of course. The younger one seems to like you. She told me about your face.” She moved a piece of her hair that was hiding her right cheek, revealing a fairly sizable scar. “I know what it’s like.”
“We have to go now”, I said. “Let’s go, Jason.”
