Shining Coins are consumables in Bloodborne.

In-Game Description

Various coins that are particularly luminous.
There are very few uses for spare change during the hunt, but these will serve as guides through the darkness.
Or, one could save them until morning, if it ever comes.

These coins are used to mark where a player has been before. When one is thrown, it shimmers faintly enough so that the player may see it.

  • Very useful item when exploring Chalice Dungeons, to prevent players from getting lost.
  • In areas where there are many different paths, Shining Coins can be used to leave a trail towards where the player originally came from.
  • Patches the Spider will use some in the Nightmare Frontier.

  • They serve an identical function to the Prism Stones of Dark Souls, with the exception that they produce only a faint white glow.
  • Upon closer inspection, the icon for this item is comprised of the "traditional" RPG standard of currency, in other words, a gold coin, a silver coin, with the odd one out being tin/bronze coin, per order of size.
    • Usually it would a copper coin, instead of tin, primarily because copper is quite plentiful, and tin is not.
